Since childhood, I have been fascinated with Christmas lights. In fact, I’m almost like Rain Man about them, because from year to year, I am able to remember exactly where the good light displays are and know exactly what they’re going to look like. I use to post pictures and videos of light displays and animated light shows on my personal Facebook page and would get flooded with comments asking where the homes were located. I decided to finally make Facebook pages for both Memphis’ and Nashville’s Christmas Light displays to be a resource for anyone else who wanted to know where the best of the best were.

Much to my surprise, one of the two pages grew and grew and grew. I was suddenly receiving invites to attend local lighting meetings for people who run animated light shows- and I started attending the meetings and began learning more about how the animated light show process works. And believe me when I say, it is VERY complex, VERY time consuming, and caused me to have an even greater appreciation for those who take the time and spend the money to put on these incredible light shows.

Last year, when the Memphis Christmas Lights page took off, I got more and more requests to create a map tour. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that, but I am working with someone to try to get one – but considering that this person and I both have full-time jobs and families, it is not guaranteed that a map is going to happen. For now, I have at least done my best to locate each street and give a good idea as to where it is located. In some areas, however, there is such an abundance of homes that it would take forever to properly map them out. So, please accept the work that HAS been put into this- because it has taken hours and hours and days and days of unpaid, voluntary work.

This list is something that I have come up with and is based on local research from local lighting contest submissions and winners, personal submissions, and homes that I have noted over the last few years. There is always the possibility that someone may not be lit up this year due to moving, illness, etc. I will update this list as I can. Again, this list is based on LAST YEAR.

The following helps explain more about the list:

• addresses with asterisk AFTER street name denotes former city winner/entry in past/current year that were gotten from a public web source
• two asterisks in FRONT of street name denote home is EXTREMELY lit up and/or is an animated light show
• numerical addresses ONLY provided if home was personally submitted by homeowner OR was found on a public web source from previous entries/winnings in local/municipal holiday light contests – street names can be entered into GPS and you will know the homes when you see them – I have tried to give the best directions possible, considering the vast number of homes that are on the list throughout the area
